Many companies in the US are surprised to learn that the 2000 Census reported a 58% increase over the 1990 total in the number of Hispanics living in the United States. According to a Clemson University study, the rate of increase in South Carolina was 211.2%, putting us 3rd in the nation in growth of this demographic.
From 1990 to 2002, Hispanic buying power in South Carolina more than quadrupled, ranking it as the sixth fastest-growing in the nation, according to University of Georgia research.
Retail sales to Hispanics will increase from $2 billion in 2003 to $4 billion in 2008 according to University of South Carolina's Latino Immigration Project.
