The Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) was founded in 1981 by a few Asian American and Pacific Islander journalists who felt a need to support one another and to encourage more Asian American and Pacific Islanders to pursue journalism at a time when there were few Asian American and Pacific Islander faces in the media.
Founded in 1992, the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance, AFL-CIO, is the first and only national organization of Asian Pacific American union members. NAPALSA was founded to promote education, leadership, community awareness/service, communication and interaction amongst the various Asian Pacific American law students across the country and represent their interests.
